Our Art
Mission
The mission of the Middle Way Cafe Art program is to provide an art space for the community and award showing opportunities to artists of all stages; from the novice, to the emerging to the well-established. Partnering with individual artists, organizations and businesses, Middle Way Cafe strives to make art accessible for all while creating a more vibrant and colorful Anchorage.
Brief History
Middle Way has operated a rotating arts program since 2008 when the restaurant grew its facilities and expanded service. Middle Way represents a growing list of over 50 local artists and has collaborated with groups such as Hope Community Resources, Anchorage Parks Foundation and the Color Creek Fiber Artists. The rotating arts programs accepts exhibition proposals on an on-going basis and will consider individual artists for inclusion in group or theme shows, group or partner shows, solo proposals and organization shows. Middle Way rotates the arts program to highlight individual artists and groups as well as hosting invitational and open call shows approximately twice a year. Examples of invitational and open call shows include: The Wild Things, Break Up, Text Me and The Great Big HeART show. Middle Way’s aim is to provide opportunities to artists in the community to show their work and to expose the community to the wonderful and vibrant art coming from Alaska. Middle Way Cafe is committed to showing the works of Alaskan artists in all stages of their careers; emerging artists, established and underrepresented.
